Dr. Alan Hathaway, from Davenport, stepped out of his 1924 Model T Ford during a stop in Ames. He followed the original route of the Lincoln Highway from New York to San Francisco commemorating the 50th anniversary of the similar trip made by the 10 millionth Ford in 1924. A 1935 Iowa Highway Patrol Car and a number of other antique cars escorted Hathaway through this area. Published in the Ames Tribune June 10, 1974
