Mrs. Jean Carroll’s second grade students at St. Cecilia School had a “fortified” area, compliments of the sixth grade social studies students. The sixth-graders made the castle during their study of medieval history. It was constructed of cardboard and tin cans, and within its walls were the “keep” and a church. Mrs. Carroll said the students found the area within the walls a quiet place to read. Shown left to right are: Doug Howell, Daniel Burns, and Kelly John.
