Sparked by concern over the human and economic toll of the world food supply and distribution problems, students at Meeker Elementary School learned about basic problems on a personal level. “We are lucky here that we are not short of food,” said school principal Herbert Hatch. “But there is an alarming amount of waste, even, say, in our school lunch system.” Mrs. Mary Klaus’s class, under direction of student teacher Marcia Brown, planned, cooked, and of course ate, a well-balanced breakfast.
