Biog/History: Ames neighborhood social club. This neighborhood organization was founded by fourteen women on October 26, 1923 as Clark Community Club (also known as Clark Street Community Club). Their purpose was to send cards to members and friends in the case of illness, births, deaths, etc., and flowers if hospitalized and deaths, and to offer meals to families where deaths occurred. A later tradition was the display of American flags on national holidays at the curbside of each residence on Clark Avenue.
Scope: Collection includes by-laws, membership lists, annual programs, minutes, clippings, correspondence, and artifact (sequined purse).
